The Coach House 

Our client wanted to save the beautiful Coach House in the grounds of her home and convert it into a break out space for her growing family to relax, play and have parties. It can also be used to accommodate guests and relatives on a semi self-sufficient base.

As the site is within a conservation area, our proposal concentrated externally on the rear elevation to maintain unchanged views to the building and street. To maximise the sense of light and air we are replacing the existing rear brick elevation with glass curtain walling either side of the chimney, with folding glass panels creating a balcony.

Internally, we are inserting a mezzanine to half of the building to create a quieter chill out area, leaving an open double height space in front of the glass.
